PSI University

PSI University

PSI has partnered with HealthStream to develop and pilot an on-line Learning Management System (LMS), initially for PSI employees in ten pilot sites, and eventually for all employees. Employees will be able to access training and education modules and resources 24 hours a day/7 days a week from any computer with internet access at any location. This project will provide PSI with a vehicle to ensure that employees have the most up-to-date training and education resources available to them, enabling them to provide safe and effective care of the highest quality across the continuum. The piloting stage is anticipated to be completed by the end of the year, after which all PSI employees will be enrolled. Each employee will be assigned modules of learning specific to their job class. We have the privilege of serving a diverse and complex population. Keeping our patients safe, treating them with respect and compassion, ensuring that they receive the highest quality of care available by the best trained and competent staff is our highest priority. PSI University will be focused on ensuring that our employees have every resource available to them to perform their job duties at the highest level ensuring that each patient leaves our facilities with the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Quality & Compliance Toolkits

Quality & Compliance Toolkit

PSI is providing toolkits to all of its facilities focused on pertinent topics. These toolkits are comprehensive guides and resources that each facility can use to ensure that they are providing the highest quality of care using industry best practices and guidelines. The first toolkit, Seclusion and Restraints went to all facilities. The contents included staff trainings, competency measurement tools, policies, forms, and reference materials. The focus of the toolkit was patient care and safety with the ultimate goal of eliminating seclusion and restraints. Several additional toolkits are in development on topics including: suicide assessment and prevention, programming, precautions and observations, psychiatric/medical diagnostic specific education.

Videos

R.I.G.H.T Suicide Prevention

PSI continues to develop training videos that enhance the didactic trainings staff already receive. The first of these videos was Therapeutic Boundaries. This video helps staff understand the therapeutic relationship between staff and patient and gives them the ability to realize when these boundaries are crossed. This video came with training and competency resources to ensure that staff understood not only the value of the therapeutic relationship, but how harmful it can be when those boundaries are violated. Our second video, RIGHT Suicide Prevention is focused on how staff can ensure that our patients remain safe at all times while in our facilities. Staff are encouraged to take responsibility for their role, know each patients individual needs and treatment priorities, guard patient safety at all times, ensure that they give and receive quality hand off communication during transitions in care, and recognize the value of the treatment team. The video was accompanied by a facilitators guide for discussion and education. Future videos are in development on the topics of seclusion and restraint and “Keep Me Safe”. Seclusion and restraint will focus on patient's stories and experiences and will allow staff to see things through the patient's eyes. “Keep Me Safe” will explore our obligation to ensure patient safety at all times. Whenever a patient comes to us for care, they are saying “Keep Me Safe”. It's our mission to give them that and much more.
