Poplar Springs Hospital is currently licensed for 184 beds, which include 60 acute (adult and adolescent), 108 residential treatment beds and 16 group home beds. Programs include psychological and behavioral treatment for adults and adolescents aged 11 - 18, extended adolescent acute, residential, sexual offender, and group homes. An intensive outpatient program for substance abuse is located in Richmond, 30 miles north of the facility campus.

In 2008, Poplar Springs will move its adolescent female residential program into a brand new 36 bed residential treatment center. The vacated space will be renovated and transitioned into a 22 bed acute unit. This acute unit will be utilized as an intensive treatment program for adults.

Poplar Springs is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.

Job Description

Physician opportunity with well established private practice located in Petersburg, Virginia. Individual eligible for guaranteed salary during first year of service. Option for partnership following 1st year of service.

Comprehensive treatment of children and adolescents from admission through discharge including, but not limited to, individual therapy, medication management, post seclusion/restraint evaluations. Individual must be able to work effectively with other physicians and hospital staff in multidisciplinary team approach to treating patients and residents.

Qualifications

Board Certified or eligible psychiatrist with experience in the treatment of child and adolescent patients.
