Our Core Principles

Whisper Ridge has adopted three core principals for staff and kids to live, work and play by. These principals are:

Be here: Be here both physically and mentally. First, to be here you need to attend your classes, therapy sessions, and the residential programs.

That is what we mean by being here physically, but that isn't all being here means. It also means that you show up ready to participate and contribute. For example, just attending group and not participating is not being here, or just sitting in class being a distraction to others not being here.

We hope that you can be here in all that you do and that you are a positive influence on your peers.

Be safe: Be a part of an environment that is both physically and emotionally safe at all times. Being safe physically means that you do not physically harm yourself or others.

We are sure that you also know that being safe also can mean emotional safety. This means that you respect yourself and peers. This includes your behaviors on the unit, in school and in your treatment programs such as group. Putting others down or even feeding into negativity that makes people feel bad is not safe.

Be honest: Speak the truth in a respectful manner at all times. Let go of negative dependencies and demonstrate a commitment to move past and rise above dishonest behaviors and past failures.

Be able to give and receive feedback in a respectful and honest manner at all times. Try to recognize that there is a way to be honest with others about their wrong behaviors and actions and not put them down, or do it in a way that makes them feel bad.
