West Hills Hospital is now offering an intensive outpatient program to assist patients with
co-occurring disorders also known as dual diagnosis. This program is designed to treat
patients with a primary mental health problem or diagnosis and at the same time treat
their addiction(s) or substance dependence issues. Many times patients are unable to
maintain sobriety because of an underlying mood disturbance. Our program meets four
times per week and group topics include but are not limited to:
- Understanding your diagnosis and how it relates to addiction
- Emotion management, relapse prevention and coping skills
- Medication management, compliance, and education
- Coping with addiction
- Maintaining sobriety
- Daily living skills
- Developing good support systems, community involvement, and supportive resources
All outpatient services are voluntary. Each client is actively involved in the development
of their personalized treatment plan. Length of program varies and is dependant on each
individual’s specific needs.
Program Requirements
- Client is free of any acute psychiatric, and/or medical problem(s) that would interfere
with his/her ability to benefit from treatment in the program
- Client is not at risk for harming him/herself and/or others
- Client is at least 18 years of age
- Client agrees to attend and actively participate in all program activities and community-based recovery activities as stated in treatment contract
- Client is not in need of detoxification from drugs and/or alcohol and will not engage
in use of drugs and/or alcohol
