Inpatient Treatment

Adults ages 18 and older are provided 24-hour nursing care in a locked, secure setting, with an intensive, highly structured treatment program for adults struggling with severe mental health situations. A psychiatrist leads the multidisciplinary treatment team to provide the most effective treatment for the adult. Together with the adult patient, the psychiatrist determines appropriate medications, treatment goals, and discharge plans. Nurses, Social Workers, Patient Care Counselors, and Activity Therapists work with each adult providing education, individual and group counseling, and family therapy (when appropriate) to achieve stabilization.

This is a very short term treatment program designed to help the adult (and family) move through the crisis and develop a plan to follow afterwards. Treatment is targeted toward understanding symptoms, developing coping skills, improving communication skills, and internalizing information to help adults make healthier choices. The length of stay depends on each adult’s situation, ranging from a few days to a week.

Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

Adults ages 18 and older are provided a day treatment program weekdays, that allows the adult to return home in the evenings and keep costs down. Much of the same program is followed throughout the day, and works well as the adult transitions back home from the hospital stay.

Sometimes when traditional outpatient counseling is not effective adults can benefit from partial hospitalization as an alternative to inpatient treatment. Day treatment can be helpful to prevent psychiatric hospitalization altogether.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Adults ages 18 and older participate in a 3-hour group therapy experience up to 5 days per week. From 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon adults join in group with other adults who are experiencing similar mental health issues to discuss with a therapist how to better cope. Adults gain valuable knowledge about the presenting problem, as well as a tremendous amount of support from both the therapist and peers. Adults learn improved ways to communicate, cope, make decisions, and react to their environment. The IOP lasts between 5 – 10 sessions, and the schedule is agreed upon by the adult and the therapist.

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)

This program is offered as an Outpatient Service for adults ages 18 and older. Referral to this program is made by Physicians, Therapists, and other Medical Professionals. ECT has proven to be very effective for many patients who have been unsuccessful in managing mental illnesses such as severe depression, anxiety, or mania among others.
