Medical Staff
At Three Rivers Behavioral Health, our medical staff consists of seven psychiatrists that have a total of 9 board certifications. Our psychiatrists are experts in their field who provide compassionate care and design treatment to meet each individuals specific needs.
Cheryl Connor Dodds, MD
Medical Director
Cheryl Connor Dodds, MD received her undergraduate degree in English, graduating with High Honors from Davidson College. She received a Fullerton Scholarship and completed her medical training at the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine in Columbia, SC. Dr. Dodds completed her residency in General Psychiatry at William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute, where she served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Resident of the Year. She completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Palmetto Health.
Dr. Dodds is Board-certified in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry. Her professional affiliations include the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
In addition to her duties as Medical Director, Dr. Dodds serves as the Service Director of Saluda Cove Residential Treatment Program at Three Rivers. Dr. Dodds also maintains a busy outpatient practice with Vista Psychiatric Consultants which encompasses child, adolescent and adult psychiatry located in West Columbia, South Carolina. Her areas of special interest are in treating patients with Asperger's Disorder and Eating Disorders.
MARY SHEALY BOYD, MD received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina. She completed her medical training at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in 2001. Dr. Boyd completed an internship at Palmetto Health Alliance and residency training in General Psychiatry at Palmetto.
She holds an appointment as a Clinical Instructor in the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in the Department of Neuropsychiatry. Dr. Boyd is board certified in General Psychiatry. Professional Affiliations include the American Psychiatric Association and the American Association of Administrative Psychiatry.
CLAIRE JORDAN HYDE, MD received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maine at Orono in Latin and English. After teaching for ten years, she entered the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Medicine. She completed residency in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute in Columbia, SC. After graduation, Dr. Hyde was employed by the Department of Mental Health at The Columbia Area Mental Health Center Assessment and Emergency Services Center as a staff physician. In this capacity Dr. Hyde also participated in the education of medical students and residents.
Dr. Hyde is board eligible in both General psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
TIMOTHY D. MALONE, MD received his undergraduate degree in Physics from the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC and completed his medical training at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Columbia, SC. Dr. Malone completed his internship at William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute in Columbia, SC. Dr. Malone completed his residency in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute in Columbia, SC.
Dr. Malone is Board Certified in General Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and certified in addiction medicine with ASAM. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and the SC Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Malone has been a clinical Professor of Psychology at USCSM for 5 years and is a regional and national speaker in the psychiatric fields of substance abuse, mood disorders and ADHD. He is the service director of the Intensive Outpatient Program at Three Rivers.
KIM J. MASTERS, MD received his undergraduate degree in English from Princeton University, and received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his General Psychiatry residency and Child Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of California in San Diego.
Dr. Masters is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and a Fellow of American College of Physicians. He is a member of the Association of Child Psychiatry and Psychology in Britain, and the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Masters is Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Health Professions MUSC, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Medical College of Georgia since 2003. He is a representative of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to the professional training advisory committee (PTAC) of the Joint Commission since 2003. In the past two decades, Dr. Masters has presented over 70 lectures on aggressive management, dual diagnosis, DSM IV, Child Abuse and Autism, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Dr. Masters has 16 publications, two tapes and a book, The Angry Child: Sleeping Giant or Paper Tiger. He was the senior author of the Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s Practice Parameter on the Prevention of Aggressive Behavior in Psychiatric Facilities with a focus on Seclusion and Restraint and is part of the team updating the parameter. He also writes a column for the Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry News on seclusion and restraint prevention.
JAN PRESBERG, MD received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania where she majored in Psychology and Theater Arts. She attended Harvard University for Premedical Education and received her medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Presberg completed her residency in General Psychiatry at the University of Virginia. She completed her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University and at the University of Virginia.
Dr. Presberg’s experience crosses both the public and private sectors. Over the last decade she has practiced at local community mental health centers, universities and had a busy private practice. Dr. Presberg is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
ROBERT C. SCHNACKENBERG, MD received his medical degree at the University of Michigan. He completed his internship and residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center as well as a Child Psychiatry Fellowship at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.
Dr. Schnackenberg is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Adolescent Psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association. He is a member of the American Medical Association, SC Medical Association, American Society for Child Psychiatry Professors, American Society of Adolescent Psychiatry, and the Carolinas Society for Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Schnackenberg is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine since 1976 and received the first Chairman’s Award for his outstanding contributions to medical student education. Dr. Schnackenberg has been awarded the Physician’s Recognition Award by the American Medical Association for his dedication to the health of America. He is past Director and Co-Founder of the Day Treatment Center and Director of the Child Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program at William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute. He has 18 publications, with 12 of the publications addressing the areas of Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity.
