The Pines Residential Treatment Center Charleston
The Pines RTC Charleston Campus is a residential treatment facility in Summerville, South Carolina. Located on The Pines Charleston Campus is the Waypoint Program, which provides treatment for sexually aggressive adolescent males with psychiatric needs and the Summit Program, which provides treatment for adolescents who present with a variety of psychiatric problems such as conduct disorder, post traumatic stress disorder or mood disorder.
Located on The Pines Charleston campus is a newly renovated middle and high school. The free-standing, renovated building offers larger classrooms and a computer lab with new computers and Internet access.
Students attend a six-hour day of school, which includes seven 50-minute periods:
- English/language arts
- Science
- Math
- Social studies
- Health/physical education
- Social skills
- Computer science
The curriculum taught at The Pines Charleston is aligned with South Carolina’s state standards. Teachers are bachelors or masters level and are licensed in the state. During the summer months, a seven to eight week enrichment program is held that allows students to participate in art, music, drama, cooking and sewing activities.
The Pines Residential Treatment Center Charleston is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and licensed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
