River Park Hospital
River Park Hospital is a 165-bed, full-service behavioral health facility providing assistance to children, adolescents, adults and seniors in both inpatient and residential settings.
River Park offers the following programs:
Children:
- The Bridge Program: Serves sexually reactive children ages 8 to 12. Treatment includes a safe, structured environment that allows the child to overcome the effects of the trauma. The average stay is six months to one year.
- Children's Inpatient Program: Treats patients ages 5 to 11, although younger children may be admitted with a physician's approval. The program helps children and their families through individualized assessment, stabilization and aftercare planning.
Adolescents:
- The ROAD Dual Diagnosis Program: For adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18 with co-existing substance abuse and psychiatric disorders. The estimated stay is three to six months.
- Barboursville School: A psychiatric residential treatment facility for adolescents with serious emotional disturbance that provides individualized treatment and education in a highly structured environment. The estimated stay is six to eight months.
- Adolescent Inpatient Program: For patients 12 to 18 years of age, the program helps adolescents and their families through individualized assessment, stabilization and aftercare planning. The average stay is seven to 10 days.
- Diagnostic Service: For adolescents who are in need of diagnostic clarification. These youth may have experienced a number of diagnoses or numerous interventions.
- The Roundtable Program: Provides specific treatment services to sexual offenders ages 12 through 17. All youth admitted to the program are court ordered. The estimated stay is 12 months.
Adults:
- Adult Program: Treatment is designed to help adults 18 and over focus on specific problems and solution development. The estimated length of stay is five to seven days.
- Adult Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit:
Structured to help stabilize individuals experiencing an acute crisis situation.
- Geriatric: For adults 60 and over, this program focuses on diagnosis and treatment of mental illness and its relationship to possible medical problems. Younger adults that demonstrate significant cognitive/intellectual impairment, organic mental disorders, or mental retardation may also be admitted.
River Park Hospital treats patients without regard for gender, age, race, religion, creed, national or ethnic origin, handicap, or disability.
Every effort is made to accommodate patients with special needs. The hospital is handicap accessible; walkers and wheelchairs are provided as needed. Interpreting services are also available as needed; a Directory of Interpreting Services is provided by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services.
