Daybreak Sexual Abuse Prevention Program
The Daybreak Prevention Program is designed to address the growing need for comprehensive evaluation and treatment of young males, ages 11-18, who have a history of sexually acting out toward others. The Program is grounded in current research and designed to work with the Whole Person and the young man’s Family System to add value to their lives while developing skills and insights to avoid sexual acting out in the future. Attention is given to physical, emotional, medical, educational, and social needs.
The Treatment is grounded in proven behavioral and cognitive approaches that are designed to approximate real life as part of preparation to return successfully to the community. The young person receives intense treatment in the forms of:
Individual therapy
- Group therapies
- Community outings
- Expressive therapies
- Biochemical interventions
- Weekly community updates
- Family therapy and education
- Year round VA certified education program
The Goal in treatment is to support the young person, his family, and community in:
- Understanding why the sexual acting out took place in the first place
- The impact the acting out had on others
- How to avoid future sexual acting out in the future
We Believe the following things:
- Young people are not labels. They are individuals with great potential.
- Sexual acting out is not the young person. It is something he does.
- Everyone needs to be emotionally and physically safe at all times.
- Sexual acting out is a symptom of much bigger mental health issues.
- People and families can make positive change with support and guidance.
- Young people who sexually act out can get better.
