Substance Abuse Services: Recovery 101
Recovery 101 is an intensive four-week program
designed for adolescents (ages 12-17) and their families struggling with drug
and/or alcohol problems. The program runs for four days per week for three hours
each day.
Recovery 101 is based on the theory that drug
and alcohol abuse or dependence is a treatable problem.
Recovery 101 is focuses on adolescents themselves:
- It is sensitive to cognitive level and developmental
needs
- It is sensitive to any current emotional
or psychiatric issues
- It promotes open communication and mutual
respect within the family
- It promotes parental roles for setting limits
and appropriate boundaries
- It helps family identify negative influences
in their lives and encourage personal change to avoid chance of relapse
