Typical Daily Schedule - Inpatient Program
Goals Group/Wrap Up
During morning groups, patients have daily meditation readings and are encouraged to set a specific goal for the day. The evening wrap-up groups allow patients to discuss their progress toward that goal with a chance for reflection and progress toward curing their addiction.
12-Step Journaling
Patients begin building a working relationship with a Higher Power or God as one understands God. Steps One, Two and Three are covered in the Personal Journey Workbook and the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous (provided upon admission). The licensed chemical dependency counselor facilitates as patients move through each step with opportunities to share with supportive group members.
Psychotherapy Process Group
Patients with a history of dual diagnosis address causes and effects of their condition. They learn new, healthy coping skills with a licensed therapist and are introduced to materials that engage classes of psychodrama.
Chemical Dependency Education Group
Patients learn the medical model of recovery, feelings management, relapse warning signs, and coping skills with a licensed chemical dependency counselor. Specific homework assignments are given with emphasis on relapse prevention planning.
Creative Therapy
Creative therapy is facilitated by certified music and recreation therapists. Music, creative arts and exercise assist in enhancing self-esteem and teaching patients healthy alternatives to mood-altering substances.
Chemical Dependency Process Group
Patients process their awareness of the disease of addiction and the effects with an open and honest mind with a licensed chemical dependency counselor. They learn to take responsibility in becoming alcohol/drug free which ultimately leads to a clear mind and fresh future.
Relapse/Self Study Group
Patients have designated time to spend on their personal workbook, autobiography and relapse-prevention plan. The autobiography and relapse-prevention plan is presented during the process group with peers and the therapist. This is an opportunity for the patient to gain insight into any cognitive thinking errors or distortions.
Weekly Family Group
A licensed therapist will work with family members and the patient on ways to move through the hurt, shame and harm the disease of addiction has caused them. This session is also helpful in that family members' feelings are validated while surrounded by other families whom they can relate to.
