At Millwood Hospital we understand the transition from childhood to adulthood can be a time
of tension, difficulty and turmoil. During this transition, some adolescents withdraw from family and friends, engage in self-harm, use drugs or become depressed. These symptoms may indicate more serious problems.
Signs for Concern
- Performing poorly in school
- Withdrawal from others
- Violence/antisocial behavior
- Alcohol or drug abuse
- Depression
- Self Mutilation
- Suicidal thoughts
Treatment Program
- Expertise and environment provided that can help seriously troubled teens transition from childhood to adulthood
- Adolescent enabled to strengthen daily functioning in social and interpersonal relationships by using problem solving skills learned in program
- A successful adjustment back to daily activities facilitated by discharge planning, the help
of referral sources and a plan for ongoing care
