Dicey Smith, RN, MSN, CS-P/MH

Dicey Smith Ms. Smith is licensed as an advance practice nurse with certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric Mental Health. She earned her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University and her master's in psychiatric nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Smith has 34 years of experience in psychiatric nursing, beginning in a mental health clinic and advancing through the ranks over the years to administrative positions. She served as the Director of Nursing Service for Millwood Hospital for 25 years before changing roles to focus on regulatory standards compliance. During the 1990s she was involved with the start-up operation of five new hospitals in Texas for her corporation. She presently serves as the director of The Excel Center for Children and Adolescents while also serving as the advance practice assessment nurse. She also serves as a preceptor for advanced practice nursing students for the UTA School of Nursing.

Smith's love of psychiatry has been with her since her days as a student nurse in Louisiana, where she also developed her love of Cajun cooking and eating.
