Services for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community
The Texas facility of The Pride Institute, located at Millwood Hospital is one of the nation’s oldest and largest provider of psychiatric and chemical dependency
services to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community.
Treatment Programs
Inpatient Hospitalization
- Psychiatric and behavioral healthcare offered around the clock
- Safe environment for GLBT persons offered within a segregated unit at Millwood Hospital to address a variety of issues
- Specialized groups provided for individuals with dual diagnoses (having both psychiatric and chemical dependency disorders)
Outpatient Programs
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Psychiatric and behavioral healthcare program offered as a treatment alternative
allowing the individual to return home in the evenings
Also used as a “step-down” from an inpatient stay
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Less intensive psychiatric and behavioral healthcare program offered in
the afternoon
Also used as a “step-down” from an inpatient or PHP stay; but also a less intensive option
for care
Sober Living Facility
- Transitional
living home offered for recovering gay men needing minimal structure in a longer-term living environment in conjunction with Oxford Houses, Inc., Pride-Oxford House and Richland Manor
Educational Services
- Undergraduate and graduate practicum, internship sites and supervision offered
Post-graduate internships available
for LVN, RN, LCDC, LPC, and LMSW
Continued education and organizational in-service presentations offered for the benefit of mental health professionals and agencies
Referral/Resource Services
- Assistance offered for general public and treatment professionals with referral and resource information to local, regional,
and national mental health professionals, support groups and other GLBT affirming resources
