Positive Steps Toward a Successful Admission

  • Mesilla Valley Hospital offers assessments for children, adolescents, and adults 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These assessments are provided to the community at no charge. Please call (575) 382-3500 or (800) 877-3500 for more information.
  • Please provide all information requested from you to the Assessment and Referral Counselor via fax. Please have guardians sign all consents as required.
  • You may send the information to Mesilla Valley Hospital via fax at (575) 382-3727. Please make certain that your client and his or her Guardian (if appropriate) sign all the forms to assure that you will be able to obtain information you deem necessary.
  • Once the patient has been assessed, the clinical staff—along with the attending Physician—will determine whether the patient requires hospitalization. Completion of an assessment does not guarantee admission. A member of the clinical staff will contact you regarding the patient after the appropriate release of information forms are signed.
  • Once a patient has been admitted to Mesilla Valley Hospital, he or she will receive a Patient Code Number. Family members and friends who wish to speak to the patient during visiting and phone hours must have this number. If you wish to call and speak to the patient directly during his or her hospital stay, you must have the Patient Code Number.
  • You may be asked to be involved in treatment on various levels while the patient is in Mesilla Valley Hospital. You may also be asked to refrain from having contact with the patient. You will be contacted by the Therapist and Treatment Team with recommendations. All recommendations will be made in the best interest of the patient.
  • Upon discharge, the attending physician will dictate a Discharge Summary. If you require the Discharge Summary immediately, please inform the Director of Medical Records or the Business Development Office. They will assist you in obtaining the Discharge Summary as quickly as possible.
  • If you have any concerns, please contact the Patient Advocate or the Business Development Office to assist you in solving problems and answering any questions.
  • Remember that it is the goal of the Mesilla Valley Hosptial staff to provide quality care, and provide you—the referral source—with the most accurate and up-to-date information about your client as possible. By working hand-in-hand with you, we will assure an effective continuum of care for those who need it.
