Inpatient Program
All inpatient services at Mesilla Valley Hospital utilize Master's-level licensed
therapists and are supervised by a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist who
is trained in the systemic perspective of treating biological, psychological
and social factors. Mesilla Valley Hospital offers the following inpatient services:
Chemical Dependency - Inpatient
Alcoholism and drug addictions are indeed family problems. Just as the patient's behavior affects all the loved ones around them, the support of the family is essential in developing and maintaining sobriety. Special weekend family programming is essential for the patient's recovery process. Education, exposure to the support groups of AA, NA, ACOA, and AL ANON, and group therapy are provided for both patients and their families.
A complete medical detoxification process begins the patient's course of treatment. Following the detoxification, a highly structured, intensive program is crafted to meet the needs of each individual patient. Healing is facilitated through daily education, individual and group therapy, physical activity, art and expressive therapy, and family treatment. Key components of treatment are participation in AA and NA meetings as well.
Adult Treatment Program - Inpatient
The Adult Treatment Program offers a variety of treatments and therapies. Group
therapy, family therapy, psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and other individualized
techniques are used to treat each adult's unique problems. Recreational and
occupational therapies are also included in each treatment plan.
Individualized therapy along with individualized support and opportunity for growth underlies each treatment plan. Treatment emphasizes reinforcement of the patient's sense of independence and sense of dignity and self-worth.
The Adolescent Treatment Program - Inpatient
The Adolescent Treatment Program at Mesilla Valley Hospital incorporates various
treatments and specific types of therapy in the treatment of adolescent problems.
Upon admission, a thorough assessment of the patient's clinical and social needs
is conducted. Upon completion of the evaluation, the treatment team develops
a comprehensive treatment program. During a patient's stay, his or her family
members are encouraged to participate in the treatment process. By involving
the entire family in the treatment, patients learn that their problems are not
solely their own, and they learn how to work as a unit with their families to
begin to solve certain family problems.
The Geropsychiatric Program - Inpatient
This is an inpatient and outpatient program to provide short-term intensive
services to older adults. It meets the needs of adults aged 60 and older that
are experiencing depression, emotional trauma, multiple losses, or loss of mental
functioning due to organic processes.
