Adolescent Residential Treatment
The Residential Treatment Program is for adolescents between the ages of 13 and 17, who require an inpatient setting. This program has a family-centered focus, combining individualized therapy with a strong emphasis on the therapeutic community.
Treatment is designed for adolescents who have:
- Psychiatric disorders
- Emotional difficulties
- Substance abuse problems
- Eating disorders
- History of abuse
- Behavioral disorders
Laurel Ridge places emphasis on clinical interventions designed to improve the mental status and enhance the self-concept of adolescents, such as developing relationships with peers, family and others. The treatment plan focuses on the psychological strengths of the individual through reinforcement of positive behaviors.

Laurel Ridge Treatment Center's Charter School
The University of Texas, University Charter School - Laurel Ridge Campus provides a full K-12 program, including regular education, special education and vocational training. During the school day, adolescents receive remedial help in basic academic subjects, attend vocational training or become involved in elective subjects ranging from character education to theater arts. The Charter School program is accredited by the Texas Education Agency.
Family Involvement
Family involvement is an integral component of the program at Laurel Ridge. Returning adolescents to their family, home and community is the goal of treatment. Laurel Ridge staff facilitates family therapy, parenting skills and hands-on training via shadowing techniques.
Therapeutic Campus-Style Environment
The Laurel Ridge community is set within winding oak paths and throughout the campus are living areas, recreational areas, a gymnasium, swimming facilities and dining facilities. The educational/vocational building has numerous classrooms, a library and a computer lab.
