Management Profiles

Robert L. Turner, Ph.D.
is the CEO of Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health and is a Clinical-Child Psychologist licensed in Alabama, Colorado and New York. He graduated with honors from Indiana State University in 1994 with a Doctor of Philosophy degree. Dr. Turner has worked as the Director of Child and Family Programs at Colorado West Regional Mental Health Center and at St. Lawrence County Mental Health Clinic in New York. He is a nationally recognized speaker for his expertise in developing and operating programs in the areas of child and family mental health, juvenile justice and child welfare. Dr. Turner is a member of the American Psychological Association and participates on various community boards and committees.

Nelson M. Handal, M.D.
is the Medical Director for Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health as well as the founder of Dothan Behavioral Medicine. He completed his residency in General Psychiatry at State University of New York Health Science in Syracuse, New York and completed his fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Handal is a member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists. He was awarded the Clinical Scholar Award in 1996 given by the University of Miami School of Medicine and is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Jerlyn C. McCloud, M.D.
is a staff child psychiatrist with Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health. She attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. and completed her residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, completing her training in General Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. McCloud is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.
