Outpatient Services

Outpatient Services at Holly Hill include two partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and a chemical dependency intensive outpatient program (CDIOP). These programs can serve as an alternative to and/or transition from inpatient care. Prospective patients must be assessed by the RESPOND department prior to admission into these programs or must be referred by the patient's inpatient physician at Holly Hill upon discharge. PHP services are provided Monday through Friday for six hours a day. CDIOP meets Monday through Thursday evenings.

Partial Hospitalization Program

PHP offers patients the intensity of therapy and medication management available to inpatients, but the convenience of remaining at home during evenings and weekends. Individual, group, and family therapy are provided, and group therapy topics focus on illness education, coping skills, stress and anger management, and other issues relevant to continued wellness. Substance abuse issues are also addressed in PHP, and these services are provided by a substance abuse counselor. PHP is available to adults and adolescents beginning at age 13.

Adolescent PHP also provides coordination with the patient's school and allows patients a period of time each day to complete school assignments with the assistance of a teacher. Adolescent PHP also focuses on behavior modification as a goal for many patients. Family involvement is expected and family therapy sessions are held frequently.

Intensive Outpatient Services

The Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program (CDIOP) provides substance abuse education, group and family therapy, relapse prevention skills, and an introduction to the 12-step model to chemically dependent adults. This program addresses all areas of chemical dependency and all types of substances of abuse. The outpatient structure and evening meetings generally allow patients to continue work and family involvement while pursuing recovery. It allows patients to immediately utilize the principles and techniques learned in the program. Many patients and families who believed only inpatient treatment would help have found that CDIOP offers the benefits of inpatient without the added cost or time away from family and work.

Family night is held each week, and patients are invited to bring family members or friends who have been affected by the patient's use and who will need to be supportive in recovery. Continued sobriety is monitored through random drug screens and breathalyzers. Patients must be committed to abstain from all drugs, alcohol, and addictive medications to attend this program.

Successful completion of the program entitles the individual to attend meetings periodically as an alumnus at no charge.
