Youth Services

At Hickory Trail Hospital, our team of child and adolescent specialists understand the unique needs of youth. The transition from childhood to adolescence and into adulthood can be a time of tension, difficulty and turmoil, and as a result childhood depression is all too common. During this transition, some youth withdraw from family and friends, engage in self-harm, use drugs or become depressed.

Our youth program at Hickory Trail, PathFinders, offers high-quality in patient treatment to meet the needs of children and adolescents ages 5-17.

Signs for Concern

  • Performing poorly in school
  • Withdraw from others
  • Violent behavior
  • Alcohol or drug abuse
  • Depression
  • Self Mutilation
  • Suicidal thoughts

Using empirically validated psychopharmacology and therapeutic treatment, our PathFinders Program helps children and adolescents by teaching them to:

  • Strengthen daily functioning
  • Develop coping skills
  • Improve social and interpersonal relationships
  • Learn effective problem solving skills

From the moment youth enter our program, aftercare planning begins in order to assure continuity of care and help youth successfully adjust back to daily activities upon completion of treatment.
