Intensive Outpatient Program

The intensive outpatient program (IOP) provides services to adults who are in need of further stabilization and who do not require the structure of a full day treatment program. Clients attend the intensive outpatient program three days a week for three hours per day and the adult outpatient program two days a week for two hours per day.

IOP for Short-term Stabilization

IOP is more intensive than traditional outpatient programs and is designed to achieve short-term stabilization and resolution of the patient's immediate problem areas. The patient and family are offered services by a team of professionals. The patient is enrolled in a time-limited program with other patients working on similar issues. The treatment team may include licensed therapists, nurses, program specialists and a doctor.

IOP at Two Locations

Heritage Oaks Hospital offers IOP at two locations in the Sacramento Area:

  • The outpatient center on the Heritage Oaks Hospital campus
  • The Fulton Avenue Outpatient Center near the corner of Fulton and Marconi

Inquires and referrals for all outpatient services can be made through the main phone number at (916) 489-3336.

Advantages of IOP

  • Individual lives at home
  • Sessions conducted while the individual continues to go to work or school
  • Individual therapy augmented by group therapies specific to the patient
  • Multiple professionals work with the patient and family
  • Frequency of attendance determined by the individual's specific needs
  • Specialty programs available
