Assessment Response Team (A.R.T.)
The Heritage Oaks Hospital Assessment Response Team (A.R.T.) is available to assess, triage and refer individuals who are experiencing severe emotional, psychiatric, behavioral, and/or substance abuse problems. These assessments are performed in the Emergency Departments of five local medical facilities. The team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Assessment Response Team Features:
- Assessments are performed by A.R.T. clinicians who are licensed mental health professionals.
- The clinicians are trained and experienced in assessing problems associated with mental health issues of children, adolescents and adults.
- Individuals are referred to appropriate community services according to clinical need and financial resources.
When is an Assessment Needed:
Psychiatric assessment and referral service may be helpful for individuals or family members experiencing:
- Abuse Issues
- Anxiety
- Behavioral problems
- Depression
- Eating disorders
- Job crisis
- Personality disorders
- Psychotic reactions
- School crisis
- Stress
- Suicidal thoughts, plans or attempts
- Threatening or destructive behavior
How is the Assessment Response Team accessed?
The A.R.T. is summoned by the medical staff at one of the five contracted medical facilities when that staff determines the need for an assessment. Clinicians arrive on-site within one hour of the initial request. The assessment is then performed and the A.R.T. clinician arranges whatever disposition is deemed appropriate after consultation with the treating Medical Doctor, the patient and other involved medical staff.
