Public Service Programs

Fox Run The Center for Children and Adolescents offers four public service programs to schools, day care centers, head start programs, and the general public.

Building Self-Esteem

This is a 30-60 minute program brought into the school.  The length of time is based on grade level kindergarten through 12th grade.

Building self-esteem is a program designed to help teach children and adolescents to have a high regard for themselves and others.  There is discussion and interaction with students to recognize the difference between low and high self-esteem.  The message the program communicates is that every person is unique, and that uniqueness is what makes us all valuable.

Teamwork

Teamwork is a 2-3 hour program brought into the school.  The purpose of the program is to instill a sense of working together as a team to achieve the task at hand.  The task/game is designed in such a manner that every person must cooperate and contribute to accomplish the end result.

There is interaction between the instructor and students in the discussion of teamwork and how it can be applied in the school, home, and with friends and peers.  The lessons are learned in a fun and innovative way.

Alpine Tower

The Tower experience stems from the "paring concept"—partners who are physically connected and naturally needing to work together to ascend the tower.

Group Goals

  • Teamwork
  • Fun
  • Communication
  • Trust
  • Cooperation
  • Respect for others

Individual Goals

  • Enhancing self-esteem
  • Promoting physical fitness
  • Encouraging adventure, risk taking, and attempting the unusual
  • Encouraging people to try their best
  • To serve as a metaphor for discussing lessons learned

Current Research and Treatment of Youth Violence

Fox Run The Center for Children and Adolescents offers a presentation that focuses on youth violence. Specifically, the program highlights how schools can better respond to the issue of violent youths. The program gives an in-depth look at the possible indicators of youth violence. In addition you will be provided with a compilation of articles that will help you with:

  • Assessment of childhood/adolescent aggression
  • Recognizing violence warning signs
  • Best practices for prevention and treatment of violence
  • Guides to safe school

This program lasts about two hours with a short video vignette that highlights the thinking of an actual school shooter as well as time for questions and answers at the conclusion of the program.

Please contact Scott Judge at (800) 245-2131 to schedule a date and time or for additional information about these programs.
