Clinical Trials
Fairfax Hospital has long been acknowledged as a leading provider of mental
health services to Washington residents. Over the years, Fairfax has participated
in clinical trials and other research to help improve the quality of life for
individuals with mental illness. For 2002 and 2003, Fairfax plans to participate
in research for patients diagnosed with a variety of diagnoses, including schizophrenia,
schizoaffective disorder, major depression, and bipolar illness. In most clinical
trials, there is no cost to the patients who participate. Usually, a short period
of hospitalization is followed by a period of outpatient evaluation. Sometimes,
there is a small stipend paid by a pharmaceutical company to patients for participating
in research.
If you know of someone who may be interested in participating in a study at Fairfax, or you have specific questions, please contact: Natalie Hodges, Clinical Trials Coordinator, at 425-821-2000 ext. 1547.
