Respiratory Care
The Compass Respiratory Care staff is on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With more than seven decades of combined respiratory care experience, the Respiratory therapy department is able to handle complex respiratory needs.
Screening and Treatment
Once we admit a patient, we screen the patient for any respiratory therapy needs. We evaluate patients who have physician orders and initiate a respiratory plan of treatment.
Our respiratory therapist provides oxygen therapy, hand-held nebulizers and metered dose inhalers. For those patients who require more than just medication, our respiratory staff is also able to provide CPAP or Bi-PAP (devices used to aid patients with sleep apnea or a severe pulmonary disease). Our respiratory staff is also highly skilled in ventilator management and in assisting patients in becoming independent from the ventilator.
Education and Prevention
We work closely with physicians, patients and their families to ensure that all respiratory requirements are met and that the proper education is provided. We give our patients the knowledge they need to make the lifestyle changes necessary to prevent further respiratory problems and achieve the optimal quality of life.
