Christian Addiction Treatment

Residential/Inpatient Treatment for Alcohol, Drugs and Problem Gambling

Calvary Center's treatment program is for men and women, 18 years and older, who are struggling with substance abuse and problem gambling. Our program is designed for those in search of a Christian or spiritual 12 Step program; those who struggle with relapse or dual diagnosis (other psychological disorders); and for individuals looking for a nurturing, safe environment to begin a new life in recovery.

We believe addiction is a disease that is chronic and progressive. It is a disease that affects the whole person: physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. An alcoholic, addict or problem gambler is often in denial, and is not able to recognize that their substance abuse and problem gambling has become uncontrollable. Once they recognize their powerlessness and that they need help, the recovery process can begin.

Calvary builds its program upon Christian principles and 12 Step programs. This foundation encourages a renewed relationship with God and provides a path for healing and change.

Calvary Center also believes that chemical dependency is a family disease. Nearly all family members and significant others are affected by a loved one's addiction. We strongly encourage our clients to invite their families and loved ones to attend our Family Program. This program helps families to understand the disease of addiction and how they can best help a loved one who is beginning a recovery program. Education is provided regarding healthy communication, family roles, coping skills, and resolving conflict. Issues of trust and forgiveness are addressed, and families are encouraged to share their feelings and begin healing their relationships. They are given time to express concerns and feelings, and are given support from other family members who share similar experiences. Often family members gain insight into their own behaviors and how they too can participate in the recovery process.

Residential treatment is often the most effective treatment approach for a person struggling with substance abuse and problem gambling. In addition to a residential program, a commitment to long-term follow-up care and a 12-step community is essential for continuous recovery. Our comprehensive program provides an atmosphere of care and healing that addresses the whole person. The treatment team assists the client in identifying and resolving difficult underlying issues that have prevented long-term sobriety, and the negative consequences that have resulted from the substance abuse and problem gambling. Individual therapy allows for sharing personal thoughts, feelings, and past experiences. Group therapy provides group interaction with those who share similar experiences. Feedback and support is received from both peers and clinical staff.

Recovery is a personal journey. Each person who enters Calvary Center's program is expected to participate in their treatment planning and take responsibility for his or her behavior and decisions. Our clients are encouraged to:

  • Make a commitment to a life-long recovery program,
  • Recognize their own personal relapse symptoms,
  • Pursue a closer relationship with God,
  • Understand how substance abuse and problem gambling has affected their life, and
  • Acquire the tools necessary to maintain a sound recovery.

We believe recovery is possible, and this process of transformation starts at Calvary.
