Inpatient Programs
The purpose of our Acute Inpatient Services is to evaluate, stabilize and treat adolescents who are experiencing a crisis situation and need immediate intervention. The program focuses on intensive psychiatric evaluation, treatment and aftercare planning using a professional, multidisciplinary team treatment approach.
The team consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, social workers/case managers, activity therapists, teachers, and behavioral counseling technicians. We have a staff of physicians available for consulting with patients regarding dietary concerns, pediatric neurology and other routine pediatric needs. Our extensive staff of allied health professionals performs assessments and provides routine groups for patients' specialized mental health needs, such as chemical dependence, trauma, and sexual offending. Our Certified Teachers assess and tutor our patients based upon their educational strengths and needs.
Each of the acute care programs takes a unique approach, using a variety of age-specific treatment modalities. These programs can also assist individuals with behavioral health needs complicated by substance abuse. The average length of stay varies according to the needs of the patient, but generally ranges from 4 to 10 days.
Family participation is encouraged, and education regarding mental health issues and medication is offered.
Adolescent Program
This program takes a comprehensive approach to helping adolescents 12 to 18 years old, develop coping skills to aid during troubled times in the difficult transition period of adolescence. Families are actively involved in the treatment program, enabling the adolescent to successfully return to the home and school settings. Conditions addressed include depression, self-destructive behaviors, behavioral and impulse control programs, as well as situational crises unique to adolescents.
Children Program
Separate programming is offered for younger children ages 5 to 12 who experience emotional or behavioral problems such as hyperactivity, aggression, withdrawal, lack of impulse control, or other non-compliance with age-appropriate activities of daily living. This program utilizes play therapy techniques. Play is the primary mode of expression for children.
