Treatment Programs

Adult Psychiatric Programs

Alliance provides two different tracks designed to treat a range of moderate to severe mental disorders:

Higher functioning patients who are experiencing depression, grief and anxiety disorders will be located in a separate unit. This unit is designed to provide a quieter environment so that patients will be able to journal, read, listen to music, and participate in process, focus, and educational groups. This environment is more conducive to patients focusing on their individual issues.

Lower functioning patients who are experiencing psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder are located on a separate unit. This unit is for patients who are chronically non-compliant with medication, are waiting to be hospitalized at the state hospital, and are not able to participate in process groups.

On-site or mobile assessment and evalutions of all mental health diseases are provided. For inpatient programs, we include family education and support in coping with symptoms and diagnoses associated with mental illness. In addition, Alliance offers assistance with placement options at discharge. Staff includes board-certified psychiatrists, RNs, and licensed clinical professionals. Group and individual therapy is incorporated, focusing on social, activity, coping and reminiscence skills.

Medical Detoxification Unit

Since the progression of the disease and the negative consequences that accompany the disease are unpredictable, each person's detoxification is individualzied according to length of use and the substance being abused. Cross-tolerant medications are used to safely detoxify the individual with minimal discomfort. In addition, patients attend intensified individual, group and family therapy that is based upon the 12-step program of Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous. Patients can continue to attend our 12-step program after their inpatient treatment is complete.

Individual and group therapy is provided by a licensed professional counselor and chemical dependency counselor in addition to treatment provided by registered nurses and social workers. We define chemical dependency as a family disease, and require families to participate in treatment and aftercare when applicable. We also work with those who are dually diagnosed, and a board-certified psychiatrist is on call 24 hours a day to work with the treatment team as needed.

Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program

This program is a structured group setting beneficial to an individual who has a diagnosis of substance abuse or substance dependence and is medically stable to attend on an outpatient basis. This 10-week program is designed to give the chemically dependent patient education and support until they become comfortable with life on life's terms and free from mood-altering chemicals.

The program is designed to give the individual the same quality and quantity of treatment as someone who completes a 30-day inpatient program, while allowing the person to continue to work, go to school, and pursue a productive lifestyle. It is structured to cover the primary concepts of treatment: the addiction process, the recovery process and the relapse process, and extensive help is provided in improving coping skills, anger management, family issues involved in recovery, and stress management. Active participation in a 12-step support system during and after completion of treatment is highly recommended.

Milestones Senior Adult Unit

This unit is specifically designed to care for elderly patients exhibiting signs and symptoms of dementia, depression, paranoia and disruptive behavior within the home or nursing home. The long-term implications of failing health, the onset of mental disability and the progressive debilitation often seen in the elderly affect not only the patient, but also their spouse and other family members. Therefore, this program offers family education, coping skills and after-care recommendations.

On-site or mobile assessment and evaluations of mental diseases affecting the aged are performed, including depression, organic brain syndrome, dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Once treatment begins, we provide patient and family education and support in coping with symptoms and diagnoses associated with mental illness, inpatient medication evaluation and management by board-certified psychiatrist supported by a caring nursing staff, and group therapy by qualified licensed professionals focusing on social skills, activity and reminiscence. Social workers assist with placement options at discharge.

Adolescent Residential Treatment Center

This center offers three distinct treatment programs:

  • Severely mentally ill and oppositional adolescent males, ages 12-17
  • Severely mentally ill and oppositional adolescent females, ages 12-17
  • Juvenile male sex offenders, ages 12-17

These adolescents are unmanagable in a less restrictive environment and require the structure of a secure home-like setting. The adolescent has symptoms and/or behavioral manifestations of mental or emotional illness which significantly interfere with age-appropriate social, educational or family functioning.
