The Pines Residential Treatment Center
Project Right Track

Located on the Brighton Campus in Portsmouth, Virginia, Project Right Track provides intensive treatment to sexually abusive adolescent males diagnosed with mental retardation and psychiatric illnesses or disorders. Project Right Track serves juvenile sex offenders between the ages of 12 and 20.

The program is based on the Developmental Delayed Sex Offender Rehabilitation and Treatment curriculum designed for residents with mental retardation to suit their limited level of understanding and development. The concepts taught in the program curriculum address the dysfunctional beliefs and cognitive distortions that are often present in sexually abusive youth. In order to minimize their risk of reoffending, enhance their independent living skills, and increase their ability to adapt to community demands, the program encourages the residents to develop appropriate social and relationship skills.

The therapeutic alliance is paramount to residents' treatment success. Each resident receives a comprehensive initial risk assessment to evaluate level of functioning, level of risk to the community and to develop a comprehensive conceptualization of the residents individual treatment needs.

Designed for Sexually Reactive Male Youth Ages 12 – 20 with:

  • DSM –IV diagnosis of psychiatric illness on Axis I and/or II.
