The Pines Residential Treatment Center
The Behavioral Studies Program

This innovative program addresses the issues of delinquency, sex offending and mental health using a holistic trauma informed approach to cure within a robust multi-cultural treatment model. Located on the Pines Residential Treatment Center's 30-acre Brighton Campus in Portsmouth, Virginia, the program works with sexual abusive offending adolescent males between the ages 11 and 21.

The therapeutic alliance is paramount to residents' treatment success. Each resident receives a comprehensive initial risk assessment to evaluate level of functioning, level of risk to the community and to develop a comprehensive conceptualization of the residents individual treatment needs.

The Behavioral Studies Program (BSP) is designed to be flexible to meet each resident's needs within a structured format. BSP asserts that there are numerous techniques and skills that can be taught in an effort to substantially decrease the chances of future sexual acting out behaviors. This program is framed within the Transtheoretical Model, which evaluates a person's stage of therapeutic change within an identified problem area.

The Cognitive Case Conceptualization Model identifies all aspects of the client and specifically identify those personality issues that are impediments to treatment.
