Residents come to this program with a variety of disorders and some residents may also have some pathological character traits and/or some substance abuse disorders; but these will not be the primary or predominant dysfunctions. This program is not for assaultive / aggressive individuals who have significant behaviors which have brought them into contact with the legal system.

Residents in The Adolescent Program participate in a comprehensive range of therapies, academics, and prescribed therapeutic activities including individual therapy, family therapy, and group therapy, social skills groups, and leisure skills groups. A chemical dependency treatment track for dually diagnosed adolescents (mental health/substance abuse) is available with this program.

An important component of the program is our Short-Term Stabilization approach. Requirements for the Short Term Stabilization approach include 1) face-to-face family treatment on a weekly or bimonthly basis, supplemented by telephone sessions on off weeks; 2) identification of an aftercare mental health provider to facilitate family treatment in the resident’s home community and participate in telephone family treatment sessions; 3) more frequent therapeutic leaves of absence; 4) the availability and accessibility of home-based or other wraparound services as recommended in the Aftercare Plan by The Pines Treatment Team; and 5) the availability and accessibility of recommended post-discharge educational services. Residents accepted for Short Term Stabilization will be continuously assessed for appropriateness as participants in the program.
