Panamericano/Puerto Rico
Adolescent Residential Treatment Program

A Subsidiary of Alternative Behavioral Services. Located in Cidra, Puerto Rico, this program is staffed by a bilingual, multidisciplinary professional team who are highly prepared in the education and mental health fields. The program has a strong cultural focus that is sensitive to the language and cultural differences that will help Hispanic youth get the most out of their treatment and therapy.

Designed to lead the adolescents to discover and develop emotional, social, academic, vocational and leadership abilities based on cognitive behavioral principles, teachers and care workers emphasize values that cultivate the adolescent's emotional, physical and mental health to help them reach their full developmental potential.

Therapies and education programs that successfully address the needs of residents include:

  • Individual therapy to help the youth identify and work with the main problems that led them to the residential program;
  • Family therapy to address the therapeutic issues related to their family systems;
  • An educational program designed to meet resident's special needs and is in compliance with all the requisites of the Puerto Rico Department of Education and General Education Council. As an important part of the program, study skills are also taught. These skills help residents organize their daily school tasks, prepare for tests and discover areas of vocational interest; and,
