Therapeutic Foster Parent Requirements in Philadelphia, Penn.

The First Home Care Therapeutic Foster Care Program ensures that children are placed with families who meet the following requirements in order provide the best possible environment:

• Therapeutic Foster Parents must be at least 21 years of age.

• Therapeutic Foster Parents must be in good physical and mental health.

• At least one parent must speak the same language as the child.

• Therapeutic Foster Parents must be able to provide support and supervision.

• Therapeutic Foster Parents must have sufficient income to ensure stability of family without relying on foster parent payments.  

• Therapeutic Foster Parents must have access to reliable back-up and a network of support,

• such as family, friends or neighbors.

• All Therapeutic Foster Homes must meet the minimum standards for the residential

• environment for treatment foster homes.

• Therapeutic Foster Parents must attend 30 hours of pre-service training and become

• CPR/First Aid certified.

• Therapeutic Foster Parents must pass a criminal and child abuse clearance.

• Therapeutic Foster Parents must complete 24 hours of on-going training every year.
